DAVE SWARTZ
Chief Vision Officer
When Dave Swartz was in third grade, he plagiarized a story called Bingo The Dog for an essay contest.
He won.
His mom made him write all the time to “hone his craft.” All he wanted to do was get out of a homework assignment. He ended up doing it for a living.
Dave’s career began as a writer in the 1990’s for a healthcare specialty advertising agency where he learned the power of a big idea to literally change people’s perceptions. Working to market a specialty headache drug, at time when people did not take headache seriously, Dave was part of a team that created the “Headache Art Tour”, enlisting artists to paint, sculpt or draw their own headaches. The tour launched at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC with a speech from the Surgeon General and travelled to more than 200 museums across the country in two years.
Long before the days of artists as influencers, this campaign was credited with helping people understand the impact of headache on people’s lives. It was also when Dave’s love affair with big ideas was truly born.
Dave's 30-year career evolved to span advertising, marketing, brand development, product development, business development, mobile technology, augmented and virtual reality and other emerging technologies. Swartz’s advertising career has been heavily lauded with a vast number of creative awards and industry changing campaigns. His career spans work across automotive, financial services, food & beverage, alcohol & spirits, fashion, fitness, gaming, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, publishing, sports and technology.
In 2008, Dave cofounded MEDL Mobile, a custom mobile development shop that has architected, developed and launched more than 400 mobile technologies and platforms reaching tens of millions of users, with several apps reaching as high as #1 on the Apple App Store. Dave also led the team that first introduced live-streaming video on a mobile device - and grew a platform that eventually reached 8 million people. He is designated as the inventor/co-inventor on several technology patents. Swartz has also served as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of The Developers Alliance, an organization that represents more than 70,000 software engineers and developers. Dave also serves on the board of Festival of Children Foundation, a national umbrella organization impacting the live of millions of children through the charities that serve them - and on the board of Amphibian & Reptile Conservancy which protects endangered herptiles by protecting priority ecosystems across the United States.
At Anonymous, Dave’s role is to work with families, foundations, and corporations who seek to leverage their wealth in order to address those causes which they feel can best impact the world. He understands intrinsically how to help people identify their own vision, and then he excels at making that vision come to life. Swartz lives in Newport Coast, California with his incredible wife, two awesome kids, three fantastic dogs, and 942 Pez dispensers.
